Camera Overlay Turns to Nonsense as a Sleeper's Leg Slides and the Picture Drops Out

Case summary
A dresser-mounted colour camera recorded a woman asleep on her back in a plain grey room. Every character in the camera's on-screen overlay, including the date and time, is corrupted into unreadable shapes for the whole clip. Between two and four seconds her right leg slides outward across the sheet without the rest of her body moving. At eight and a half seconds the entire picture is replaced by a muddy brown blur for about half a second, then returns exactly as before.
Timeline of events

Witness statement
Every clip that camera has ever saved has the date and time in the corner. This one has symbols. Not another language, just shapes, like the camera forgot how to write.
My leg moves. It is not much, I know, and my friends laugh at me for it. But watch it. It does not lift, it slides, like the sheet under it has been pulled, except the sheet does not move. The rest of me is dead still.
The part that got me is the brown. Half a second where my room is just gone and there is this brown smear, like the camera is looking at something else. Then I am back. I have played it at the slowest speed my phone has and there is nothing in the brown, just brown.
I moved the camera to face the window because I could not have it looking at the bed after that. It has not written a wrong character since.
What investigators found
The camera is a low-light colour unit on a dresser at the foot of the bed. The lighting is flat and slightly warm, consistent with a lamp left on in the hall. The overlay corruption is total: date, time, camera name and the small status glyphs are all replaced by garbled characters from the first frame to the last. A corrupted overlay usually means a firmware fault or a bad memory card, and on its own that is our working explanation for that part of the clip.
The leg is harder. The right foot travels roughly the width of a hand across the sheet over two seconds, and the movement starts at the foot, not the hip. The sheet does not crease ahead of the foot, which it would if the leg were pushing against it. There is no visible cause and the rest of the body is motionless.
The dropout at 8.6 seconds is not static in the usual sense. The frame is replaced by a smooth brown field with faint structure in it, which is what a sensor produces when it is suddenly pointed at something very close and unlit. We cannot say what, and there is nothing in the room that could have passed in front of the lens. This case is filed with the lowest rating in the current archive; the individual pieces each have ordinary possibilities, and it is only together that they resist explanation.
What happened next
Reveal what happened after the recording
The tenant reformatted the camera's memory card, after which the overlay rendered correctly again and has stayed correct. She kept the original file. The camera now faces the window and records passing headlights and nothing else. She sent the clip after reading case #0003 and recognising the way the leg moves. We have no evidence the two are connected beyond that resemblance, and we note it here only because she asked us to.
